Dr. Moore Specializes in 3D and 4D Ultrasound

Dr. Moore performs his own ultrasounds in his Atlanta office. We have the latest state-of-art 3D and 4D machine and can take pictures and video at your visit. For pregnancy, we routinely perform at least 3 ultrasounds (more if the pregnancy is high risk) for no additional charge. By Dr. Moore performing the ultrasound himself, you get immediate results and can often see the results yourself as Dr. Moore does the ultrasound.
For problems that require ultrasound outside of pregnancy, Dr. Moore performs all the latest procedures including Saline Infusion Sonohysterograms.
Gynecology
Dr. Moore provides a full array of gynecologic services. We perform routine annual exams with pap smears and additional testing if the pap smear is abnormal. We have a full spectrum of contraception (birth-control) and even perform tubal ligations. If you are having a minor problem, we can usually solve it the same day in the office. If the problem is more complex, we do everything possible at the visit. This may include lab tests and ultrasounds, in addition to the usual medical history and physical.
Whenever possible, we try to avoid surgery to correct problems. Many gynecologic problems can be treated effectively with medication (such as birth control pills for heavy menses). When surgery is the only option, we try to do the least invasive surgery to correct the problem. Dr. Moore is trained in the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques available, such as using the CO2 laser, laparoscopy, and hysteroscopy.
If cancer is suspected or likely, Dr. Moore may refer you to a specialist for this surgery and/or treatment.
Obstetrics
What could be more fun than delivering babies? Dr. Moore began delivering babies as a medical student in 1993 and has delivered well over 1500 babies to date. Whenever possible we always try to allow a natural childbirth and avoid C-section. Dr. Moore believes that the experience should be shared with the patient and her family, and in keeping with this philosophy most of the choices (such as whether or not to get an epidural) are made by the patient. However, Dr. Moore's primary goal is a healthy mother and baby and sometimes we have to intervene (such as performing a C-section when the baby is in distress) to make sure everyone is okay.
We take care of all but the most complicated pregnancies in our office. For high-risk pregnancies, there are several excellent groups of perinatologists (doctors who take care of high-risk pregnancies) Dr. Moore may refer you to for consultation. The high risk doctors don't usually deliver babies, but co-manage the pregnancy with Dr. Moore. Sometimes it's just one time to make sure everything is okay; but many times it's weekly to assure a safe outcome.
Dr. Moore performs his own ultrasounds in the office. If there is any question of problems with the baby or pregnancy, Dr. Moore may refer patients to the perinatologist for an evaluation.
4D Ultrasound
Dr. Moore performs his own ultrasounds in his office. We have the latest state-of-art 3-D and 4-D machine and can take pictures and video at your visit.
Pregnancy Visits
Starting Point: By convention, your 'pregnancy' begins the first day of your last menses and not at conception. Of course you don't conceive until 2 weeks after your period begins (for a typical 28 day cycle) so you actually have only been pregnant for four weeks when you are "six weeks" pregnant. I know this is confusing, but it's always been that way since we started recording such things.
Pregnancies are measured in weeks in the medical world. Your due date is exactly 40 weeks from the first day of your last menstrual period. The reason we don't use months is because using months is too vague. Does a month mean 4 weeks (28 days) or 31 days (like January)? A 'nine month' pregnancy is based on months of the calendar like January, February, March… So if you tell someone you're 'eight months' do you mean you only have one more month to go (36 weeks) or are you talking about 32 weeks? See how months can be confusing? To avoid this confusion, we'll use weeks here.

Surgery
Luckily modern medicine has made surgery less necessary than it was fifty years ago. We can handle many problems that required surgery in the past with medicines or less invasive procedures. When surgery becomes the best option, Dr. Moore is well trained in the most complicated of surgeries and up to date on the latest minimally invasive techniques.
Laparoscopy is a technique used to treat many gynecologic problems. It is a surgery, but is done through very tiny abdominal incisions. The largest is about a half-inch long and is inside the navel. Through this incision we place a long tube with a camera and light (a 'laparacope') to perform the surgery. Using this technique we can do things such as remove ovarian cysts, laser endometriosis, diagnose many causes of pelvic pain, and remove scar tissue.
Hysteroscopy is another modern technique that involves no incisions and can treat many problems that traditionally required a large incision. The hysteroscope is similar to the laparoscope but is inserted into the cervix (the opening of the uterus that dilates when you're having a baby). Using this technique we can remove polyps, fibroids, and other abnormalities inside the uterus.
Of course there are too many surgeries listed to discuss each one, but please feel free to call the office if there is a surgery you have specific questions about.
